Homemade Mango Pickle – Traditional Andhra Avakaya Recipe

Ingredients
- 15 raw mangoes
- 500g red chilli powder
- 500g mustard powder
- 250g salt
- 100g fenugreek powder
- 1.5 to 2 litres gingelly (sesame) oil
- Garlic cloves (optional)
Preparation Method
- Wash the mangoes properly and dry them completely.
- Cut the mangoes into medium-sized pieces.
- Mix chilli powder, mustard powder, salt, and fenugreek powder in a large bowl.
- Add mango pieces and coat them well with the spice mixture.
- Pour sesame oil slowly and mix properly.
- Store the pickle in a clean dry jar.
- Leave it for 4–5 days and mix once daily with a dry spoon.
